Chewsday Review- Devondale Moo Choc Milk

Today's Chewsday Review is another dairy product, but it's a little bit different. This flavoured milk comes in a tetrapack and is heat treated, meaning it can be kept in the cupboard, packed in suitcases when travelling or pulled out in emergencies! But is it a nutritious option? 🔶Ingredients: 🔹Whole milk, sugar, milk solids, cocoa, emulsifier, stabilisers, flavour (wheat maltodextrin), liquid milk product 🔹The emulsifiers and stabilisers are harmless and most likely used here to keep the texture of the milk consistent. 🔹Common allergens include: milk and wheat 🔶The positives: 🔹Total fat content within healthy guidelines 🔹Salt content within healthy guidelines 🔹A good source of calc

Frozen dinner foods for kids- Chewsday Reviews

Steggles Chicken Dino Snacks (tempura) In this review I'm talking chicken nuggets again, because so many of you want to know more. These nuggets are shaped like dinosaurs, and eternally popular with lots of my clients. Without further ado, I talk Steggles Chicken Dinosaur Snacks (tempura) 🔶Ingredients: chicken breast (60%). This is one of the nuggets with the highest proportion of chicken. 🔹The other ingredients are a combination of ingredients mostly related to the crumb, like cereal flours, oil, starch and salt. 🔶 The positives: 🔹One of the lowest contents of sodium (salt) on the market. The tempura battered nuggets are most likely to have lower salt contents, but this is one of th

Best breakfast cereals for kids? Chewsday Reviews

Uncle Toby's low sugar Cheerios Excellent request for a Chewsday review of the Low Sugar Cheerios. You might have seen them on the shelf and wondered if 'low sugar' is code for 'high fat', or maybe the sugar has just been replaced with another sort of sugar and called something different (lots of products out there doing this!) So, without further ado, I review Uncle Toby's Low Sugar Cheerios. 🔶Ingredients: 🔹Wholegrain cereals make up 78% of this product. The fact that they're 'whole', as opposed to 'parts' of the grain is a real positive. Health benefits of wholegrain consumption are many, 🔹Remaining ingredients are wheat starch, sunflower oil, salt, colours and an acidity regulator. T

Chewsday Review- Aldi Wheat Biscuits

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! ❤️❤️❤️Today's Chewsday Review comes to you from the Aldi shelves, and features a product called GoldeVale Wheat Biscuits. Essentially, they're an Aldi version of Weet-Bix. So, how do they rate against Australia's favourite cereal? 🔶Ingredients: 🔹wholegrain wheat (97%), sugar, salt, barley malt extract, vitamins B1, B2 and B3. 🔹barley malt extract is a sweetener, made from sprouted grains. Essentially it's another form of sugar. This is also used in Weet-Bix. 🔹Common allergens include: wheat and barley 🔶The positives: 🔹Low sugar content at only 2.8g per 100g. This is slightly lower than Weet-Bix for Kids (2.9g/100g) and regular Weet-Bix (3.3g/100g). 🔹Low

Kiddie of the Month!

February Kiddie of the Month This is Thomas, our kiddie of the month for February. Thomas is about to turn 5. He’s always been a bit suspicious of foods, even when he was a baby. He never liked to be fed with a spoon and always refused lumpy foods. His parents had to try so hard to get Thomas to eat anything, and he kept cutting safe foods out of his diet as he got older. Thomas also used to ask for cake ALL DAY LONG, and nag his parents for food, even after he had just eaten. This used to drive them mad, because he would never eat what they offered him. They often had to pretend to have a race to eat even his favourite foods, just so that he would eat enough to be full. Thomas also refused

Chewsday Review- Mamee Monster Rice Sticks

These snacks are in the health food aisle, and they've got a school canteen stamp on them- so are they a good lunchbox choice? Today's Chewsday Review features Mamee Monster Rice Sticks. These are VEGETABLE flavoured (perhaps a revolutionary way to get kids used to the taste of vegetables 😂- my tongue is firmly in my cheek!) 🔶Ingredients: 🔹Rice, corn, palm based carotino oil, wheat fibre (gluten free), vegetable flavour powder, dhall powder, tapioca starch, sugar, spices, salt, maltodextrin, yeast extract 🔹Carotino oil is a mixture of palm oil and canola oil. The manufacturers claim that it comes from sustainable plantations (orang-utan friendly!) and has a better nutrient profile than r
